Israel-Hamas Conflict

What's happening in Palestine?
- Dispossession
- Ethnic cleansing
- Genocide
*Noteworthy Updates*
May 2021
On May 20th, both Israel and Hamas agreed to a cease-fire, and the world, yet again, believed it would last. Later, the Israel government had promised to arrest at least 500 Palestinian civilians, which has been deemed an act of war. It was also found on May 26th that at least 66 children in Gaza and 2 children in Israel under the age of 18 were killed during the 11 days of fighting in the month of May.
June 2021
On Thursday, June 17th, Israel launched airstrikes on the Gaza Strip. For the three days leading up to this, Hamas had been sending incendiary balloons. - balloons filled with gases, so that once they hit their target, they explode into a small fire - However, this escalation of airstrikes in response to Hamas' incendiary balloons is new, as the militia group has been sending these balloons to Israel's military for years and have not received anything else in return. It has been found that former finance minister Israel Katz joined the cabinet meeting to discuss further responses with Hamas, and said, "we decided to change the rules... For every attack in Israel, targeted assassinations and widespread attacks on Hamas targets will be carried out."
August 2021
On August 16th, for the first time in 3 months, rockets were sent from the Gaza Strip by Palestine groups towards Israel. However, in the West Bank, 24 Palestines - both children and protestors - have died at the hands of Israelis during several raids.
The week prior, Israeli forces opened fire on Muslim worshippers outside Ibrahimi Mosque. The director of the mosque had said in a statement that several individuals had come to pray in response to Israel's plans to alter some of the mosque's features, which is seen as Israel taking over the mosque solely for the use and practice of Jews. The mosque was already separated so that Muslims and Jews could pray at the same location but in different areas. This separation occurred in 1994 after a settler opened fire on Muslim worshippers, which resulted in 29 deaths and approximately 100 others were injured. This holy site is revered as the Tomb of Patriarchs to Jews and Ibrahimi (Abraham) Mosque to Muslims.
December 2021
After months of passing by without extreme conflict, an Israeli civilian was reportedly wounded by gunfire at the border of Gaza. The Israeli military retaliated by firing from multiple tanks targeting Hamas' positions, in which the Gaza Health Ministry stated that 3 Palestinians had been wounded.
This occurred just a day after Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas met with Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz, establishing talks between the two nations in Israeli for the first time in over a decade.

Where does the U.S. stand?
The United States has always considered Israel a strong ally, and to this day, still does. Government officials, all across the political spectrum, have voiced their support of Israel.
Arizona's Governor Doug Ducey said in a Tweet that Arizona supports Israel (see image to the right).
Even our President, Joe Biden, has remained silent during these tremulous times, neither condoning Israel's recent escalation in air strikes and forced evictions of households nor supporting them.
Where does TWC stand?
Our group's mission remains the same, even though we are not directly affected. Together We Care stands in solidarity with the Palestinians that are being forced out of their homeland and watching their own people being massacred time and again.
What can you do to help?
For starters, stay educated. Staying educated on topics doesn't necessarily mean watching/listening the news straight for 4 hours. You can read books, listen to podcasts or pay attention to influencers on social media. Below are some recommended resources to check out:
